Cannabis Etiquette at the 4th of July BBQ

Welcome, fellow patriots and cannabis enthusiasts! As we approach the heart of summer, we’re gearing up for one of the most celebrated holidays in the United States – the 4th of July. This day is not just about fireworks and barbecues; it’s a celebration of freedom, unity, and the American spirit. And what better way to enhance these festivities than with our favorite plant, cannabis? Let’s dive into the significance of this day, how to celebrate it, and the role cannabis can play in your 4th of July celebrations.

Why Do We Celebrate the 4th of July (In the United States)

The 4th of July, also known as Independence Day, is a federal holiday in the United States that commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. This historic document marked the formal separation of 13 American colonies from the rule of the British Empire, signifying the birth of a new, independent nation – the United States of America.

The 4th of July is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s a symbol of the courage, determination, and visionary spirit that fueled the fight for independence. It’s a celebration of the democratic values that the United States was built upon – values like freedom, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. These principles were revolutionary at the time and continue to inspire people around the world.

On this day, we remember the brave individuals who stood up against oppression and fought for the freedoms we enjoy today. We honor the sacrifices they made and the ideals they upheld. We reflect on our nation’s history and the journey we’ve taken to become the diverse, vibrant, and free country we are today.

Continued Fight for Freedom

But the 4th of July is also a reminder that the fight for freedom and justice is ongoing. Just as our founding fathers fought for independence and the right to self-governance, we must continue to fight for the rights and freedoms of all Americans.

One such fight is the battle for cannabis justice. Despite the growing acceptance and legalization of cannabis across the country, many individuals are still serving time for non-violent cannabis offenses. This is a stark reminder of the work that still needs to be done to rectify the injustices of the past and ensure a fair and equitable future for all.

In addition to this, the cannabis industry faces disproportionately high taxes compared to other industries. This not only affects the growth of the industry but also impacts consumers, particularly those who rely on cannabis for medical purposes. Advocacy for fair taxation is a crucial part of ensuring that cannabis is accessible and affordable for all who need it.

As we celebrate the 4th of July, let’s remember that the fight for independence, freedom, and justice is far from over. Let’s honor the spirit of this day by continuing to advocate for change, equality, and fairness in all aspects of our society, including cannabis culture. After all, the pursuit of happiness – a core American value – should extend to all, without bias or restriction.

Cannabis Etiquette at 4th of July Social Events

As cannabis becomes more accepted and integrated into social events, it’s important to remember that etiquette still applies. Here are some guidelines to ensure that everyone has a pleasant and respectful experience at your 4th of July celebrations.

Respect Personal Choices

Not everyone chooses to partake in cannabis, and that’s perfectly okay. Respect the choices of others and never pressure anyone into consuming cannabis. It’s important to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable, regardless of their personal preferences.

Know the Law

Before bringing cannabis to a public event, make sure you’re aware of the local laws regarding public consumption. While cannabis may be legal in your state, public consumption might not be. It’s always better to be safe and informed than to risk legal trouble.

Consume Responsibly

Just like with alcohol, it’s important to consume cannabis responsibly. Know your limits and don’t overindulge. If you’re new to cannabis, start with a small amount and wait to see how it affects you before consuming more.

Be Discreet

If you’re at a public event or around people who may not be comfortable with cannabis, be discreet. Use a vape pen or edibles, which are less conspicuous and don’t produce the strong smell associated with smoking

Bloom Brands offers a range of high-quality vape pens that are perfect for a discreet and enjoyable cannabis experience. With a variety of strains, you can choose the perfect one to complement your mood and the festivities.

Share with Care

If you’re sharing your cannabis, make sure it’s clean and safe. If you’re smoking, consider using personal mouthpieces or sanitizing the mouthpiece between uses to prevent the spread of germs.

Educate and Inform

If someone is interested in trying cannabis, take the time to educate them about the different strains, consumption methods, and potential effects. Make sure they understand how to consume responsibly and what to expect.

Don’t Drive Under the Influence

This should go without saying, but never drive under the influence of cannabis. Not only is it illegal, but it’s also dangerous. If you plan on consuming, arrange for a designated driver or use a rideshare service.

Or better yet – why not skip on the alcohol this year and try out THC-infused beverages? Pabst Labs and WYNK are both worth checking out if you enjoy tasty, crisp seltzers with a moderate dose of THC. Skip the hangover this holiday!

Best 4th of July activities

The 4th of July is a day filled with festivities, joy, and a sense of unity. It’s a day when we come together to celebrate the spirit of independence and freedom that defines our nation. Here are some of the best activities to make your 4th of July celebration memorable and enjoyable.

Parades

A classic 4th of July activity, parades are a vibrant display of community spirit. Local bands, floats, and community organizations come together to create a spectacle that’s fun for all ages. Look for parades in your local area and join the crowd in cheering them on.

Fireworks

No 4th of July celebration would be complete without a dazzling display of fireworks. Whether it’s a large city display or a smaller show in your local park, watching the sky light up in a burst of colors is a magical experience. Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, and enjoy the show!

Barbecues

The 4th of July is a perfect time for a summer barbecue. Gather your friends and family for a feast of grilled favorites. To add a twist to your BBQ, consider incorporating cannabis-infused recipes. From appetizers to desserts to satisfy the munchies, there are numerous ways to infuse your BBQ with a little extra fun.

Outdoor Games

Get active and enjoy the summer weather with some outdoor games. Classic games like frisbee, cornhole, or a friendly game of baseball can add a fun and competitive edge to your celebrations.

Cannabis Tasting

For cannabis enthusiasts, consider hosting a cannabis-tasting event. Similar to wine tasting, you can sample different strains or cannabis-infused products, noting their flavors, effects, and unique qualities. This can be a fun and enlightening experience for your guests.

Old Pal is known for their shareable cannabis flower. Their classic strains provide a quality high that’s perfect for watching fireworks light up the night sky. Their pre-rolls are a great choice for a cannabis tasting event. Or, take it up a notch and invest in an OOKA – a modern take on a weed hookah that is sure to take your party to new heights.

Movie Marathon

End the day with a patriotic movie marathon. Choose films that celebrate American history or embody the spirit of independence. This can be a great way to wind down after a day of festivities and reflect on the significance of the day.

Community Service

The 4th of July is also a great time to give back to your community. Consider volunteering at a local event, organizing a neighborhood clean-up, or participating in a charity run. This can be a meaningful way to celebrate the values that our nation was built upon.

Neonjoint’s Top 5 Founding Fathers

The United States was built on the vision and courage of its founding fathers. These individuals played a crucial role in shaping the nation’s identity and values. Here at Neonjoint, we have our top five founding fathers who not only laid the foundation for our nation but also had an interesting relationship with the hemp plant.

George Washington

George Washington, the first President of the United States, is often hailed as the “Father of His Country.” He led the Continental Army to victory over the British in the Revolutionary War and presided over the convention that drafted the U.S. Constitution. Washington also grew hemp at his plantation, Mount Vernon, for industrial uses. His farming records indicate that he was interested in the plant’s medicinal uses as well.

Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson, the principal author of the Declaration of Independence and the third President of the United States, was a strong advocate for democracy, individual rights, and religious freedom. Jefferson also grew hemp on his plantation, Monticello. He even invented a device for processing hemp and was a strong advocate for its cultivation.

Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin was a man of many talents. He was a leading author, printer, political theorist, politician, freemason, postmaster, scientist, inventor, humorist, civic activist, statesman, and diplomat. Franklin was instrumental in drafting the U.S. Constitution and was a major figure in the American Enlightenment and the history of physics for his discoveries and theories regarding electricity. Franklin also used hemp paper for his printing press, which was instrumental in disseminating key documents during the founding of the nation.

John Adams

John Adams was a leader of the American Revolution and served as the second President of the United States. His contributions to American independence are numerous, including his role in drafting the Declaration of Independence. Adams was also a vocal advocate for the separation of powers within the government. While there’s no direct evidence of Adams growing hemp, he did write in his diary about the benefits of hemp cultivation for the economy.

James Madison

James Madison, the fourth President of the United States, is hailed as the “Father of the Constitution” for his pivotal role in drafting and promoting the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Madison was also a strong advocate for a strong federal government. While there’s no historical record of Madison cultivating hemp, some sources suggest that he understood and appreciated its economic value.

Celebrate Responsibly

The 4th of July is a celebration of freedom, unity, and the American spirit. It’s a day to reflect on our history, honor the sacrifices made for our independence, and appreciate the liberties we enjoy today. As we celebrate this day, let’s also acknowledge the progress we’ve made in cannabis culture and the ongoing fight for justice and equality in this space.

Whether you’re planning a BBQ with cannabis-infused treats, a movie marathon of patriotic films, or a gathering with friends to share your favorite strains, remember to consume responsibly and respect the choices of others. From Pabst Labs’ refreshing seltzers to Ooka’s innovative device, there are numerous ways to incorporate cannabis into your 4th of July celebrations.

As we light up the sky with fireworks, let’s also light up our lives with understanding, acceptance, and the shared joy of freedom. Here’s to a fantastic 4th of July, filled with joy, camaraderie, and of course, cannabis. Happy Independence Day!
