The holidays are upon us, and your friends at NeonJoint are here to help you have a Danksgiving to remember. So, what are some classic recipes to spice up your holidays? We’ve got our top five favorites to share with you, so get out your grocery list and prepare for a feast.
One of the oldest tricks in the canna-chef book is nailing the perfect canna-butter recipe. There are plenty of ways to do it, but we like the one from Old Pal. You can infuse butter or cooking oils like olive, avocado, or coconut. Recipes 2-5 on our list call for an infused oil or butter, so you will need to double, triple, or quadruple the recipe if you want to make them all! But first, let’s get started with our #1 way to have the most chill Danksgiving: weed drinks.
More than ever, people are swapping out their IPA and vino for weed drinks. What’s the appeal? Well, for starters, no hangover from too much alcohol. Aren’t we ready to step into the next chapter of our lives and leave binge drinking behind? Besides, why not save all those calories for the other incredible dishes on this list?
Wynk makes these incredible sparkling seltzers with equal low doses of THC and CBD. It’s the perfect drink for tuning out the family drama around the dinner table and finding your zen. Plus, they have zero calories or sugar and come in three great flavors. They taste crisp and refreshing on their own, but sparkling seltzer is also the perfect base for a THC mocktail.
Use juice, bitters, fresh fruits, and herbs to create your own concoctions, or lean on Wynk for a few solid seasonal recipes. Try out their Juicy Mango seltzer for a Thyme Citrus Sparkler, or go for something with a bit more zest, like the Spiced Pear Punch with Lime Twist seltzer. Our favorite of the bunch was the Cherry Apple Fizz. It tastes like fall and mixes so well with the Black Cherry Fizz from Wynk.
We’ve all had a green bean casserole at some point in our lives, and I think we can all agree that the best part is the crispy fried onions on the top. Have you ever made this casserole and had to pry yourself from the can of onions to save some for the dish? Yeah, we feel that.
Adding miso to the saute pan not only brings out the fragrance of the onions and garlic but it adds this umami yumminess to the entire dish. It’s salty and savory and somehow gives the green beans depth. There are a million ways to make a green bean casserole, but the best recipe calls for weed.
So, we leaned on our pals at Old Pal for this perfectly prepared recipe. Chef Wendy is a wizard in the kitchen, and by now, perhaps you’ve already made her recipe for infused oil or butter. Once you have that on deck, check out the exact details for making the miso green bean casserole.
One simply cannot prepare Danksgiving dinner without the mashing of a potato. It’s such a simple delight, made even better with cannabis-infused butter. Now, there are a couple of ways to go about this recipe. First, you can use your infused butter as a topping so each person can decide how much they want. Or, you can whip the canna-butter in the potatoes. Chef’s choice.
Remember that you do want to have some non-infused foods available for those that choose not to partake. Not to mention, the goal is not to fall asleep at the dinner table but enjoy a nice, steady high from infused dishes. Here’s what you need:
First, peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Then, boil them in a large pot of salted water. While the potatoes are boiling, mix the butter, cream, garlic, and salt in a small saucepan and heat until the garlic becomes fragrant.
When the potatoes are fork-tender, drain and return to the pot (saving ½-1 cup of the boiling water). Pour in the creamy butter mixture and hand-mash or use a mixer. The goal is to whip them smooth, but be careful not to over-whip them. If you need a bit more moisture, use the reserved water.
Finally, top with fresh cracked pepper and any other toppings you prefer, like extra butter, sour cream, bacon bits, or chives.
For many people, stuffing is a take-it-or-leave-it kind of side dish. But they probably haven’t had it with a little THC infusion. If you’ve caught a buzz from a THC mocktail yet, you are most certainly in for a treat because the munchies are in full swing right now. So, let’s dig into the details of stoner stuffing.
There are two ways to make stuffing: in the bird or in a pot. We prefer to keep things simple. Here’s what you need:
The first thing you need to do is heat the oven to 350 F. Melt the canna-butter and regular butter in a skillet and add garlic, onion, and celery. Saute on low for about 15 minutes or until the onions are translucent. Then, put the sauteed ingredients into a large bowl and add the bread and dry ingredients. Pour in the chicken stock and mix well.
Bake in a large baking dish for 30-40 minutes.
We know that brownies aren’t exactly the most iconic Thanksgiving dessert. That title will always go to pumpkin pie. But for a weed-themed Danksgiving, there’s nothing more symbolic of stoner sweets than a classic brownie. Besides, let Grandma Sue make the pumpkin pie, and you can bring the secret sweets that are only shared with the relatives who get down with weed.
Once again, we are leaving the details of the perfect pot brownies up to our friends at Old Pal. They’ve mastered the infused butter, and they offer details on how to factor the exact milligrams per brownie. We’ve all heard the story about someone getting absolutely lifted off a potent batch of brownies once upon a time, but there’s no need for that. Do a little math and eat as much as you’d like to prevent any kind of uncomfortable situation.
If you happen to live in Massachusetts, Old Pal makes it really simple with their Baked at Home brownie mix. Each box makes 20 brownies containing just 5 mg of THC each. Not in MA? They’re dropping soon in California, so keep your eyes peeled. Don’t forget to add a little ice cream on the side.
We hope you have an amazing holiday season with your friends and fam. Rule number one of Danksgiving is always label the THC-infused foods! While you and your cousins may want to blast off on brownies, Uncle Greg might not be ready for that kind of after-dinner party. Most of all, have a Happy Danksgiving, stoners!
