Everything You Need To Know About Delta-8 THC

Delta-8 THC, a newly extracted cannabinoid, is making its way to the market through a grey area in the law that allows hemp to be legally grown and used for extractions in regions around the United States. This particular cannabinoid has effects that resemble Delta-9 THC or “regular THC,” but it is a far less intense feeling.

Popping up at smoke shops across the country, Delta-8 THC is an “over-the-counter” alternative to more strictly regulated Delta-9 THC. Consumers looking for a mild alter in consciousness can look to Delta-8 THC products as a step down from the more common and well-known Delta-9 THC effects.

What Are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are the compounds found in the cannabis plant. Each of these specific compounds comes with its own unique effects and consumer experience. Several cannabinoids are most commonly known; however, there are over 100 cannabinoids that can be found in a cannabis plant.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC):

THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant. This compound is the most potent when it comes to psychoactive effects. It is truly different from the rest of the cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant due to its higher psychoactive properties. THC is the most commonly found cannabis compound in modern-day cannabis products.

Cannabidiol (CBD):

CBD is a cannabinoid found in cannabis plants. There are cannabidiol-specific cannabis strains that offer relief, reducing stress, and imparting relaxation to the consumer. This cannabinoid is believed to be a treatment for a variety of health issues. There is an FDA-approved medication that contains CBD, and it is used to treat epilepsy. Other ailments that CBD is believed to help relieve are back pain, inflammation, stress, anxiety, osteoarthritis, and even some cancers.

What is Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8 THC is a cannabis compound similar to Delta-9 THC in that they both give consumers the “high” feeling most commonly associated with cannabis. However, the effects of Delta-8 THC are less intense than the most common cannabis compound Delta-9 THC. While they might be less intense, the feelings of euphoria, happiness, pain relief, energy, and insomnia relief can still be found in consuming Delta-8 THC. This makes it the perfect option for people who live in states where Delta-9 THC and cannabis are still illegal. There are still many studies that need to be done on Delta-8 THC, but this cannabinoid’s future is showing great promise.

Delta-8 THC is currently in a legal gray area due to the 2018 farm bill. The compound can be extracted from hemp or cannabis plants. Federal law allowing farmers to grow and extract hemp plants allows Delta-8 THC to be legal under these statutes like the 2018 farm bill. So technically, yes, Delta-8 THC at the moment of writing this is legal. However, it currently resides in a legal gray area. Keep on the lookout for possible future regulations of this cannabis compound.

What Delta-8 Products Are Available For Consumers?

There are a variety of Delta-8 THC products available for consumers. It all boils down to the individual and their preference for how they consume it. This compound is just as versatile as regular THC and can be vaped, dabbed, or taken in a tincture.

Delta-8 Vape Carts

Delta-8 THC vape cartridges are great for people who want to inhale their cannabis products while remaining discreet about doing so. These vapes are offered in a variety of strains and are great for on-the-go dosing. A positive about vaping cannabis compounds is that the effects are felt a lot faster than ingesting them. This allows for immediate consumption in public places. Another positive is that because it is vapor, the smell of the exhaled vapor dissipates much faster than smoke would.

Delta-8 Tinctures

Delta-8 THC-based tinctures are a good option for people who don’t want to inhale anything into their lungs. These products are great because they often come with dosages on the bottles. Delta-8 tinctures are very easy to use, just place the correct dose under your tongue and wait for them to take effect. Tinctures are often more potent than vaporized or smoked cannabis and can be used to feel the effects of Delta-8 more intensely.

Delta-8 Edibles

Edibles made with Delta-8 THC are great for people who want a tasty snack to get them high. Companies like Dimo Hemp make incredible gummy edibles like rainbow belts that are sure to make any stoner happy. The nice thing about Delta-8 THC edibles is that they tend to be less intense than a Delta-9 edible. This is perfect for those wary about what an edible might do to them by allowing them to start smaller. Another great brand worth exploring is Herban Bud – check them out for reliable, safe, and quality-controlled Delta-8 products.

How Does Delta-8 THC Affect People?

Delta-8 THC can affect people differently based on their body chemistry. However, generally, it is seen as a less intense version of Delta-9, the most commonly found cannabis compound. For moderate to heavy cannabis consumers, Delta-9’s effects will come across as very subtle but noticeably present.

Is The Delta-8 Manufacturing Process Different From Normal Cannabis Products?

Yes, because regular cannabis products originate from normal Delta-9 THC plants. Delta-8 is synthesized from CBD that is extracted from hemp plants. It requires more processing than regular THC or CBD, but the high demand keeps this compound relevant.

Delta-8 THC vs. Delta-9 THC

Both of the cannabis compounds come with their respective benefits. While some overlap, there are some differences in the positives coming from these two compounds.

What Are The Benefits of THC Delta-8

While Delta-8 is still a relatively new and unresearched cannabis compound, there are still studies out there about this particular cannabinoid. Research suggests that Delta-8 may aid in brain health, appetite stimulation, nausea reduction, pain management, and decreasing anxiety symptoms. Along with these added health benefits, consumers can expect to feel uplifted, euphoric, happy, and calm.

What Are The Benefits of THC Delta-9

THC is another beneficial cannabis compound. This compound has been studied further than Delta-8 because it has been around for a lot longer. Delta-9 THC is believed to aid in pain reduction, muscle spasticity, treating glaucoma, insomnia, appetite stimulation, nausea relief, and anxiety relief.

Will Delta-8 THC Cause You To Fail A Drug Test?

Delta-8 THC will cause you to fail a drug test. Drug tests are unable to specify types of THC. Similar to CBD products, Delta-8 might have some residual Delta-9 causing a consumer to test positive for THC. If you consume any THC compound, it is vital to know the best way to pass a drug test.
